Dowding Municipal Pool
Swimming Rules of Conduct - General Rules

Safety and a clean swimming pool are our business. These rules are mainly an aid in providing, for all patrons, a safe and enjoyable place to swim, but are not limited to the following:

  1. All patrons enter this pool at their own risk. Conduct which may result in injury to self or the injury of others will not be permitted.
  2. Everyone must take a cleansing shower before entering the pool.
  3. NO running, wrestling, snapping towels, shoving or throwing others into the pool.
  4. Profanity will not be tolerated.
  5. Playing, sitting, swinging, pulling or standing on ropes, ladders, railing or lifeguard chairs is NOT allowed.
  6. Only forward facing, feet first entries are allowed in water less than 9 feet deep.
  7. No carrying others on people's backs or shoulders.
  8. No climbing on the fence.
  9. Only bathing suits and clean aqua shoes are allowed in the pool. NO cut-offs or colored shirts in the pool.
  10. The office telephone is for employees and emergencies only.
  11. NO glass containers of any kind will be allowed.
  12. NO gum, food, or drinks (except water) are allowed in the pool area. Food & Drink may be purchased and consumed in the food court area.
  13. Absolutely NO alcoholic beverages, drugs or tobacco products will be permitted in the facility at any time by anyone. Smoking will not be permitted by any person on park grounds.
  14. Spitting or nose blowing in the pool area is strictly forbidden.
  15. No visiting with guards and do not walk in front of the guard stands.
  16. Bikes must be parked in the bike rack. They are not to be leaned against the pool fence or left standing unattended.
  17. The pool is not responsible for items stolen or lost.
  18. Any activity that the lifeguard deems unsafe can be stopped immediately.
  19. The pool will close for 20 min. after hearing thunder or seeing lightning. If a storm is close, patrons will be asked to come inside the locker rooms and stay out of the showers. In case of a tornado, we will try to get the patrons into the hallways. We prefer patrons stay on the premises rather than leaving on foot or on bikes in a storm.
  20. The swimming pool will not open if it is raining and/or the air temperature is 65 degrees or below at noon. If the pool should open and conditions deteriorate, the pool will remain open until 3:00 pm to determine swimmer interest or better weather conditions. The swimming pool may close at any time if there are only 10 swimmers in the pool for an hour. Once the pool is closed, it will not reopen.
